Board certified endocrinologists, pediatric endocrinologist, podiatrist and pharmacist are available for consultation and ongoing management of diabetic patients

Expertise in diabetes management is available through highly trained health professionals in one location. Both adult and pediatric diabetic patients with either type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes may be referred for evaluation and treatment on Monday- Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm. Pharmacy counseling for medication reconcilliation is available on Monday and Tuesday from 9 am - 12 pm. Podiatry services are available on Wednesday from 9 am - 12 pm. Referrals are required. Most insurances are accepted and cover the cost of this service. Please call to make an appointment.

Insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring training and ongoing management support

Janice Harris, RN and Catherine Burnette, RD are Certified Diabetes Educators and certified pump trainers in the Medtronic insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring systems. Patients of all ages who are interested in any of the various insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors on the market may be referred by a healthcare provider. The patients are required to attend at least 2 pre-pump training classes that review carbohydrate counting and basic information about the various insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring devices prior to a prescription for the devices. Pump training classes are held Monday-Friday between 9 am- 4pm. Board certified endocrinologists and a pediatric endocrinologist is available for ongoing management support. Most insurances are accepted and cover the cost of this service. Please call to make an appointment.

Adult Education for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes

The Medstar Diabetes Institute is an American Diabetes Association recognized diabetes education program. Clients meet with a certified diabetes educator and a registered, licensed dietitian. Training is available for iPro and Dexcom continuous glucose monitoring systems (CGMS). A CGMS can be worn for one week or purchased for continuing use. All insurances are accepted. A physician order is required. Our facility is handicapped accessible and parking is free.
